My Story

Finding Light in the Shadows

The Roots of My Practice My journey with mindfulness didn't begin in a serene studio; it began in the trenches of grief. When I was 25 years old, my world was shattered by the death of my mother. In the wake of that loss, I felt adrift, but it was then that I first reached for mindfulness as a survival tool. It was the only thing that kept me grounded when the floor had been pulled out from under me. It taught me that even when we cannot control the storm, we can find a center of gravity within ourselves.

The Physical Burden For the decades that followed, while I navigated a 40-year corporate career and raised my family, that internal connection often took a backseat to the external "grind." My health suffered as a result. By 2015, I reached a breaking point—physically and emotionally—at a weight of 275 pounds. I couldn't walk two blocks without humiliation. In 2016, I chose to undergo gastric bypass surgery, a decision that allowed me to reclaim my physical life, lose 130 pounds, and reverse my Type 2 diabetes.  I continue to take my physical health very seriously.  I eat right (my definition of what is "right" for me), exercise regularly, manage my stress, and get enough sleep.

The Test of the Pandemic However, as many of us experienced, the arrival of COVID-19 brought a different kind of challenge. Despite my physical transformation, my mental health suffered deeply during the isolation and uncertainty of the pandemic. The "walls" felt like they were closing in, and the anxiety was a heavy, familiar weight. It was during this time that I returned home—to mindfulness. Re-engaging with deep meditation, sound healing, and intentional ritual wasn't just about "feeling better"; it was about coming back to life. It reminded me that wellness is a three-legged stool: physical health, mental clarity, and spiritual alignment.

Moonlit Wellness Today I retired from my corporate life in 2025 to dedicate myself fully to what I know works. I am not a distant expert; I am a woman who has used these tools to survive the loss of a parent, divorce,  family trauma with my children, the struggle of obesity, and the mental strain of a global crisis.Through Moonlit Wellness, I share the healing I’ve found—whether through the guided meditations that kept me grounded, the candles I pour with intention, or the workshops and one-on-one consultations that helps others find their joy. I’ve lived the "before," and I am honored to help you navigate your way to the "after."."
